Glossary

Domain Authority

Domain Authority is a third-party score estimating how likely a site is to rank, based mainly on its backlink profile.

Domain Authority, and similar metrics like Domain Rating, are third-party scores rather than Google metrics. They estimate a domain's ranking strength from its backlinks and are useful for comparison, not as ranking targets.

Example

A team tracks Domain Rating over time to gauge whether its link building is improving the site's authority.
